“You’re Waiting For a Train…” (Insight – 5 Centimeters Per Second)

I love anime. I watch it every moment that my life allows me. However, there are times in which I do worry about the state of the Industry…where it’s going and, if in about five or ten years, will it evolve into something that is beautiful or something that is a grotesque shell it once was. No, I’m not talking about the politics and business of the Anime Industry, but rather the style and storytelling that it currently uses.
It seems that these days, anime series are utilizing more ecchi, fanservice, and even violence to draw the viewer into the series itself. Although this tactic does work, it could possibly mislead the viewer into focusing more on those three things rather than focusing on a rich storyline, or the deep relationship of the characters. What’s left sadly is the instant gratification of one part of our minds, but not the whole.
With that in mind, I hesitate at times when picking a series to watch. But every now and then, you get that feeling when browsing…a chance. This chance came to me in the form of a Crunchyroll Deal of the Day. It was a movie that I never even heard of, but the description I read drew me into buying the DVD with what little money I had left. After just watching it, the regret I once had into the purchase have long since dissipated.

Ah, Linkin Park. I’ve been a fan of them for years. If you’re familiar with them yourself for some years, and familiar with their wroks of Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora, you noticed their style did change, and some fans were pretty vocal about it. I myself, although not overly huge fan of Minutes to Midnight & A Thousand Suns, still like their new stuff. The only thing I am sad about, is they no longer include Mecha from their first three albums (Meteora did have a mech, in the “Somewhere I Belong” music video). Hopefully the Japanese can persuade them to add some Mecha fanservice in future albums…as well as deter any flamer that never gave LP’s new stuff a fair listen through. How, you say? More

One of the things I <3 about Steam is its extensive library of games that’s available to PC gamers and, as of recently, Macintosh gamers. Steam pretty much grew from a pretty buggy beta Valve released back in 2003, to one of the major distribution services for the PC Gaming Industry as of 2010. If you’re a PC Gamer, you must have heard about Steam one way or another. But, alas, despite the extensive library, I’ve been wanting some Japanese RPG goodness in Steam for quite a while. Sure, Square Enix released a few RPGs there, but none of them really caught my eye…until one day when a demo was released before the full game, something that’s actually pretty uncommon in the gaming industry these days.

- Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale (Demo Version)
- Japanese Indie RPG, (1 Player), “E10+ Rating”
- Price: $19.99 (10% off you preorder before September 10)
- Recommended for: Casual RPG fans, those who wants a lil’ different take on the JRPG formula. More

…This is on par with some of the best Anime I’ve seen, and pretty much beats out most American movie plots these days. It’s really hard to believe that this is actually a Shampoo commercial. Commercial of the Year Century anyone?
Definitely reinforces my belief to continue to follow my dreams…no matter the doubts and antagonism that persists.
Woodward Dream Cruise ’10

Another year, another Dream Cruise in full motion. This time though, it seems that the weather itself didn’t want to cooperate, which made me took only a couple of pics every now and then. I’m not a fan of cars, but I’d be lying to myself if I said that I didn’t enjoy the Dream Cruise every year. I do love watching custom cars go by, with their owners inside showing off their pride and joy, but so far I didn’t seem to find one that really caught my eye…well until now. More

Man, been quite a while since I touched WordPress in general, but nevertheless when I feel like writing, what better way to cure that then by typing on my Blog that I’ve been abusing neglecting to write in for a good year or so.
Anyways, for a while now I’ve been itching to write about the games I’ve been playing. Insights are the answer to this. Before, I actually used to write reviews for fan site forums as a friendly gesture to those wondering a how a certain game is and if they would like it or not. More

Going back to your roots, to where it all began, the feeling of xenophobia and paranoia slowly but surely begins to wrap its grasp all around. It’s a really unique feeling, and not a good one at that…the sense of not knowing who you really are nationally and culturally… how your ancestors came from that far away land and how you connect with it, but when you finally make it there, you are looked at differently. Even if you have that pure relation of blood; the way you talk and gesture is constantly observed, while the cold stares of some gives you that cold sweat, sharply hacking away at your back as you try to shrug it off. Maybe I’m overplaying this…maybe it’s the paranoia talking…but everytime me and my family goes to the Philippines, this is what I’m constantly fighting inside of me when I walk into Metro Manila Airport. At what cost does Peace play when many Countries still manufacture weapons that harm humanity? Are they fatally flawed into thinking that Military Supremacy would protect the peace that currently holds, yet treaties are constantly rotting per generation…as technology advances and creates new ways that harms everyone. As soldiers blindly following orders from the Country, Mercenaries and PMCs All the while Controversy constantly sparks amongst the civilians, often powerless while watching helplessly as events unfold…all the while criticizing moves made by either party…yet those words doesn’t matter as war rages on, often giving birth to excuses of self-defense, intervention, annexation…Do we really live in such fragile times?
